Sabre air expert, Kyle Moore, to discuss impact of unbundling on future of travel distribution next week

If air merchandising is a confusing a term to you, you might find a few minutes with Kyle Moore helpful.

With more than 15 years in the industry, Kyle’s expertise spans from studying new paradigms in air shopping to observing the shopping patterns of agents and their customers. And as for that term air merchandising – Kyle puts agents at ease.

“Merchandising simply refers to the various ways that airlines are altering the way they market their products and services.  At times, they are bundling services into packages that travelers may choose to buy.  Other times, they are unbundling things that were traditionally part of the fare – such as fees for checked baggage, seat selection, meals, and many others.”

This week at THETRADESHOW in Orlando, Kyle sits on a panel to probe this very question — Airline Unbundling’s Impact on the Future of Travel Distribution – Where is it all heading

And afterward, if you’re in booth 619, you might snag some face-to-face time with him to answer your own questions about how Sabre is planning to improve the way we sell airline products and provide solutions for you to do this easily, while allowing travelers to self-serve as their travel plans become clearer.

You may have heard from Kyle before.  This year alone, he’s made an appearance at Business Travel Market, London and Guild of Travel Management Companies, China Ancillary Revenue Conference and Business Travel Show, not to mention his testimony in front of the United States Congress House Aviation Subcommittee hearing on ancillary revenue where he represented all online and traditional travel agencies, a consumer group representing travelers, and the GDS companies.

Plus, you may recognize him from a popular video on “Answers on Ancillaries” featuring Kyle here.

We continue to invest significantly to ensure Sabre Red is the total travel solution to help our leisure agency customers do just that, and these new capabilities are evidence of that commitment,” said Chris Kroeger, senior vice president for marketing for Sabre Travel Network.

As more customer feedback on the new Sabre Red travel solution comes rolling in, we thought we’d share it with you.

Sabre Red celebrates first month of upgrade success

The big celebration for the numerous Sabre Red customer success stories that have already flooded in just after a month since the official launch was in full swing this week at the Texas-based home of Sabre Travel Network, where your new Sabre Red travel solution was born.

Our Sabre Red team took just a few moments out of a busy day managing upgrades and providing customer support to raise a red champagne-filled glass to toast the initial success of the global Sabre Red launch that began on June 15, 2010.

The team’s new Senior Vice President of Marketing, Chris Kroeger, spoke to the Sabre Red team (pictured below) and shared many stories of excitement from agencies who are already delivering great value and service to their customers while driving more revenue and efficiency thanks to Sabre Red.

The rave reviews have kept our cheeks blushing bright hues of crimson, to be sure. Meeting our customers’ needs simply makes us all smile from ear-to-ear, just as this comment from a reservations and ticketing manager at one of our Bahrain-based agencies also did.

“If I were to describe Sabre Red in one word it would be ‘efficient.’ It’s efficient in design, efficient in usability and an extremely efficient customer service tool,” said Ajay Mathew from Algosaibi Travel.

“The new solution helped me increase the number of customers I can now service in a day and is tremendously adept in displaying the most competitive fare, thus helping me make money and save money at the same time.”

We sure wish you could have been there to celebrate with us this week, but we are keeping the Sabre Red trail hot around the globe and will likely be visiting each of you, our customers, in person to reintroduce you to the Sabre you know and love along with the new Sabre Red we know you’ll love.

And if you aren’t a current Sabre customer, ask us for a demo simply by commenting below! We’d love the opportunity to walk you through the new Red Workspace at any time.

You can never have too much sparkling Red cider or too many crimson-colored cookies. So, check back soon for more pics of your Sabre Red team painting headquarters Red with joy this week from the good news our customers continue to share.

TravelMarketReport.com gives insight into how Sabre Red is “not your grandfather’s GUI”

Yesterday, Michèle McDonald from TravelMarketReport.com offered some great insights into how exactly why the word “graphical” has been a negative one to agents in the past and exactly how/why Sabre Red is different.

Anyone who uses technology at work knows that the five most frightening words in the English language are: “We are upgrading your system.” So it’s not surprising that some travel agents look upon Sabre’s plan to replace MySabre with a new platform called Sabre Red Workspace with some trepidation.

For some agents, it’s the “G” in GUI – graphical user interface – that is the most troubling element of the switch. The green screen emulator is often perceived by new entrants into the industry who have grown up with the consumer-friendly, point-and-click interfaces of online travel agencies and supplier sites, as an anachronism, a vestige of legacy systems.

But few existing GUIs can accomplish the kind of sorting and filtering of information that an agent can perform easily on a green screen.
